The CANBUS control unit relies on PWM (Pulse Width Module) that is directly connected to motor controller and tells it how much power to give the motor and in which direction to operate. If you switch to HID or LED bulbs for your vehicle, you will need to have a CANBUS adapter to effectively control the power supply to various bulbs on the vehicle. It can be a challenge to overcome the conversion requirements when swapping out your original bulbs for LED or HID, but we have the parts and support to help you get the job done with ease.
Uses and Benefits of the CANBUS
CAN bus (Control Area Network bus) is a message-based protocol that allows individual systems, devices and controllers within a network to communicate with each other. It was originally developed for automobiles during the eighties but has found usage in other industries as well. In general, a bus is a communication system that transfers data between components. A CAN bus allows for data transfer in a system that is not connected to a network hosting device. CAN bus adapter enables the various lighting components to efficiently and effectively relay information to each other and work in sync. Before CAN bus gained popularity, vehicle wiring harnesses could contain lots of wires, with bundles of 8 or more wires to carry signals between interconnected systems. In contrast, CAN bus utilizes a high-speed (25kbps – 1Mbps) twisted pair wiring system that significantly reduces the length of wire necessary to allow system components to effectively communicate.

Speed – The main benefit of CAN bus is that the data transfer speed far outstrips traditional analog wiring harnesses. CAN bus data relays allow multiple messages to be sent simultaneously to all connected devices, light sensors or adaptors for faster communication. Flexibility – CAN bus offers a dual-wire structure that allows better maintenance flexibility. CAN bus systems require significantly less wire making them easier to install in vehicles. You can also add new components to a CAN system without putting in lots of wires which significantly reduces complications and solves signal problems. Reliability – CAN bus systems are sturdier and less sensitive to magnetic interference than analog wiring. Since CAN bus wiring requires fewer cables and connectors, it cuts down points of failure and offers more reliable signal transfer between vehicle components. Cost – Since you need fewer wires or hardware, CAN bus adapters are an ideal solution for embedded applications that require multi-processor communication on a budget.
